Cox Flexion / Distraction

Cox or Flexion/Distraction Technique

Cox or Flexion-Distraction technique requires a special treatment table to decompress involved spinal joints, discs, nerves and other soft tissues. The procedure is accomplished with the use of the doctor's hand to stabilize the spinal vertebrae from above while the movable section of the table is used to apply joint specific tractioning from below.

Flexion/Distraction technique has been shown to reduce the pressure inside the disc. This treatment can be used to stretch out tight muscles and ligaments thereby improving spinal flexibility.

Flexion/Distraction technique is appropriate for many conditions including low back and leg pain, neck and arm pain as well as disc herniation, facet joint syndromes, spondylolisthesis, and spinal stenosis.
